Quality Concrete concrete work in Huntsville, AL

A walkway is a small project that gets noticed every time someone visits. We pour residential sidewalks and walkways with the same crew quality we use for driveways. Most walkway projects in our service area run 1 to 2 days from form to broom finish. Our crew lead walks the path with you before any digging starts.

How it works

What a Concrete Sidewalks project includes

  1. Right-of-way check

For sidewalks in the public right-of-way (between the street and your front yard), we verify whether a city permit is needed and pull it for you. For walkways entirely on your property, no permit.

  2. Excavation + base

Dig to grade, compact 4 inches of gravel base. Walkways without a proper base lift and crack within a couple of years.

  3. Form + rebar (optional)

Rebar grid for high-traffic walkways or where vehicles cross. Wire mesh for typical residential walks. We size the reinforcement to the use.

  4. Pour + finish

4-inch slab thickness, broom finish for slip resistance. ADA-compliant slope where the walk crosses a public area or serves an accessible entry.

  5. Control joints + cure

Joints every 4-6 feet on sidewalks. Cure for full strength. Walk-on safe at 24 hours.

  6. Final inspection

Walk the finished work, ensure no trip hazards, confirm the slope, hand off.

Why it matters

What separates a concrete sidewalks job that lasts from one that does not.

Slip resistance is non-negotiable

Broom finish on walkways. Always. A smooth-troweled walkway is a fall waiting to happen, especially when wet. We do not pour smooth on a walking surface, ever.

Trip hazards come from frost heave

Walks poured without a proper base will frost-heave and create lip transitions. We compact and grade the sub-base on every walk so the surface stays flat.

Step heights and tread depths follow code

Concrete steps that are uneven heights are a trip hazard and a code violation. We pour every step to consistent rise and run.

What drives the price on a concrete sidewalks project

  • Total length of the walkway
  • Width (3 feet minimum, 4-5 feet typical residential)
  • Number of steps and step transitions
  • Sub-base condition (if old walk is being replaced)
  • Permit needs in public right-of-way

Questions

Questions Huntsville homeowners ask about concrete sidewalks.

How wide should a residential sidewalk be?
3 feet is the minimum for ADA. 4 to 5 feet is comfortable for two people walking side by side. We help you pick the right width during the site visit.
Can you match my existing concrete color?
Concrete naturally weathers over time, so a brand-new pour next to an old one will look different for the first 6-12 months. We can integral-color the new concrete to a closer match if you want, but the cleanest result is letting both weather together.
How long does a residential walkway take?
A typical 50-foot front-yard walkway: 2 days. A longer garden path with steps: 3-4 days. We can usually start within a week of the signed estimate.
What does a residential walkway cost?
Most projects in our service area run $2,000 to $6,000 depending on length, width, and step count.

What moves the price up or down

  • Square footage

Roughly $4 to $5 per square foot for flatwork. We measure it on site during the estimate rather than guessing from the driveway.

  • Sub-base condition

A slab over a sound, compacted base costs less than one needing excavation, fill and recompaction.

  • Finish

Broom is the base. Smooth-trowel, exposed aggregate, stamped or stained each add labour and material.

  • Access

If the truck cannot reach the pour, concrete gets moved by buggy or pump, and that is time.

  • Tear-out

Removing and hauling an existing slab is its own line, priced by thickness and reinforcement.

Flatwork runs roughly $4 to $5 per square foot. Square footage is measured and evaluated during the estimate, and the final number comes to you in writing after a free on-site visit.

  • I had a great experience with this concrete company from start to finish. They were professional, on time, and very easy to communicate with throughout the entire project. The crew paid attention to detail and made sure everything was done right the first time. The quality of the work really stands out — the finish is smooth, clean, and exactly what I was looking for. They also kept the job site neat and completed the work within the timeframe they promised. If you’re looking for reliable and high-quality concrete work, I definitely recommend them. I would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects.
