I had a great experience with this concrete company from start to finish. They were professional, on time, and very easy to communicate with throughout the entire project. The crew paid attention to detail and made sure everything was done right the first time. The quality of the work really stands out — the finish is smooth, clean, and exactly what I was looking for. They also kept the job site neat and completed the work within the timeframe they promised. If you’re looking for reliable and high-quality concrete work, I definitely recommend them. I would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects.

Stamped concrete is the highest-return concrete upgrade for homes in Alabama. Patterns from ashlar slate to wood plank, in colors from warm tan to slate gray. We pour decorative stamped concrete with the same structural prep as our standard pours, plus the timing and pattern skill that stamped work demands. We bring sample boards to the first visit.
How it works
What a Stamped Concrete project includes
Pattern + color selection
We bring sample boards on the first visit. Pick from ashlar slate, brick, wood plank, flagstone, or custom patterns. Color is integral or surface-applied.
Sub-base + rebar
Same prep as standard concrete. Stamped finish is a surface technique, not a structural change. The slab underneath is the same 4-inch broom-finish slab we pour everywhere else.
Color hardener + release
Integral color or surface color hardener dusted on. Powder release prevents the stamps sticking and adds an antique-style second color.
Stamping
Stamps pressed into the wet concrete in your selected pattern. Timing is critical; we work fast and clean. The window between "too wet" and "too dry" is 20-40 minutes.
Cure + sealer
Cure 7 days, then apply UV-stable acrylic sealer. Re-seal every 3-5 years to maintain color and water resistance.
Maintenance guide
You get a 1-page sheet on how to keep stamped concrete looking new for decades. Re-seal schedule, cleaning, deicer cautions.
Why it matters
What separates a stamped concrete job that lasts from one that does not.
Stamped is not durable on its own
The colored layer is on top. Sealing every 3-5 years protects the color and the surface. Without sealing, stamped concrete fades and powders.
Pattern timing is the whole skill
Stamp too early and the impression closes up. Stamp too late and the impression is shallow. The crew knows the window for the day’s mix and the day’s weather.
Color matches between pours can be tricky
If we are stamping next to an existing stamped patio, we color-match as close as we can but exact matches are impossible. We tell you up front.

What drives the price on a stamped concrete project
- Square footage
- Pattern complexity (single pattern vs random vs custom)
- Color count (single color vs antique two-color)
- Surface area to seal
- Existing stamped work to color-match against
Questions
Questions Huntsville homeowners ask about stamped concrete.
- How long does stamped concrete last?
- The structural concrete lasts 30+ years like any pour. The colored surface lasts 5-7 years between sealings if you re-seal on schedule. With neglect, the color fades in 3 years.
- Can you stamp over my existing concrete?
- Sometimes, with an overlay system. The existing surface has to be sound. If your existing concrete is cracked or spalling, an overlay just postpones the replacement. We inspect first.
- How much does stamped concrete cost compared to standard?
- About 30-50% more than a standard broom finish for the same area. A $5,000 broom patio becomes a $6,500-$7,500 stamped patio.
- What patterns are most popular?
- Ashlar slate and seamless natural stone are the two most-requested. Wood plank has gotten popular in the last few years. Brick is a classic for entryways.

What moves the price up or down
Square footage
Roughly $4 to $5 per square foot for flatwork. We measure it on site during the estimate rather than guessing from the driveway.
Sub-base condition
A slab over a sound, compacted base costs less than one needing excavation, fill and recompaction.
Finish
Broom is the base. Smooth-trowel, exposed aggregate, stamped or stained each add labour and material.
Access
If the truck cannot reach the pour, concrete gets moved by buggy or pump, and that is time.
Tear-out
Removing and hauling an existing slab is its own line, priced by thickness and reinforcement.

Mr. Hill poured our driveway and did an excellent job. He was fair on his price and his workmanship was second to none. Most importantly Mr. Hill showed up when he said he would and finished the job in a timely manner. I would recommend Jeffery and Quality Concrete to anyone.
